SONOFF at IFA 2026: Zigbee Thermostat, TRV Gen2, and a 2K Window Camera

SONOFF has brought three products to IFA 2026 that reveal where the company wants to expand its smart-home range. Two focus on Zigbee heating: a wall thermostat designed to control selected hydronic systems and boilers, and a second-generation thermostatic radiator valve. The third is much less conventional: a camera installed indoors against a window to monitor the outdoor area through the glass.

All three are real products with individual listings in SONOFF’s European store, although they are not at exactly the same commercial stage. As of September 6, 2026, the CAM-S3W and TRV-ZBT are listed as available, while the TP-WGZBA thermostat is a pre-order. We checked the specifications and availability against SONOFF’s official pages; Tecnoyfoto has not tested these devices yet.

The short version: the thermostat and new TRV are the most practical products; CAM GlassView is the most original, especially because of its local console, RTSP, and ONVIF support.

What SONOFF unveiled at IFA 2026

IFA 2026 runs in Berlin from September 4 to 8. SONOFF is showcasing security, climate control, energy management, and local-control products. Within that wider announcement, these three devices share a useful theme: they target specific household jobs without relying exclusively on cloud automations.

TP-WGZBA: a central Zigbee heating controller

The SONOFF Thermostat Core TP-WGZBA is not a radiator valve. It is a flush-mounted wall panel for heating control. It uses Zigbee 3.0 and provides two output types: an active 100-240 V relay rated at up to 3 A for hydronic heating actuators, plus a passive dry-contact output with COM and NO terminals for boiler control.

That dual-output design covers two common installation types, but it does not mean the thermostat works with every heating system. SONOFF specifies hydronic underfloor heating and compatible boiler systems. The company explicitly warns that it is unsuitable for directly switching most electric underfloor heating loads because these commonly exceed the relay rating. Electrical compatibility and wiring must be checked before purchase, and installation involves mains voltage.

  • Three independent heating plans.
  • Seven-day scheduling with up to 12 temperature periods per day for each plan.
  • 5-30 °C setting range and a physical dial.
  • Presence sensing that wakes the display as someone approaches.
  • Remote temperature input, offset, open-window detection, frost protection, and child lock.

The three plans could make it easy to switch between a normal week, weekends, and holidays without rebuilding every schedule. The thermostat also accepts an external NTC probe and can use selected remote SONOFF sensors when they are connected to the same Zigbee gateway. What remains unknown is how much these features improve real regulation in a typical home and how the presence sensor behaves in daily use.

TRV-ZBT: what changed in the Gen2 radiator valve

TRV-ZBT is SONOFF’s second-generation Zigbee thermostatic radiator valve. Compared with the earlier TRVZB, the manufacturer claims a 38% reduction in volume. The new model measures 50 × 50 × 82.9 mm and uses an M30 × 1.5 thread; other valve bodies may require one of the supported adapters.

The most visible upgrade is the color IPS display, which can be oriented in four directions. The valve retains a 5-30 °C setting range and adopts the same three-plan system with up to 12 periods per day. It runs on two AA batteries. SONOFF quotes up to six months under normal use, but actual life will depend on valve movement, temperature, battery quality, and network stability.

Other advertised features include PID valve control, Boost mode, temperature offset, open-window detection, frost protection, automatic anti-calcification maintenance, low-battery alerts, and child lock. It can use a separate room-temperature sensor and work with a SONOFF door or window sensor. Measuring away from the heat produced by the radiator addresses one of the familiar weaknesses of any radiator-mounted thermostat.

For context, see our in-depth review of the original SONOFF TRVZB. Gen2 appears to improve size, screen readability, and scheduling flexibility, but without a side-by-side test we cannot say that it regulates temperature better or operates more quietly.

CAM-S3W: monitor outdoors while keeping the camera inside

CAM GlassView CAM-S3W is the most unusual proposal. It attaches to the indoor side of a window with 3M adhesive and watches a street, yard, or entrance while remaining protected from rain and tampering. SONOFF supplies three mounts, four-direction adjustment, and a three-meter extension cable to make USB-C power routing easier.

SONOFF lists a 3 MP sensor, 2K resolution, an f/1.0 aperture, a 100-degree field of view, and dual-band 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi. The product also advertises on-device AI human detection, real-time alerts, and two-way talk. Apartments, shop windows, second homes, and locations where an outdoor camera is difficult or prohibited look like the most logical use cases.

The glass remains the biggest unknown

The product page states that CAM-S3W works with single- and double-pane glass and uses an anti-glare algorithm. That does not guarantee identical results on every window. Thickness, coatings, dirt, angle, indoor lights, and reflections can all change the image. SONOFF acknowledges that thick glass may produce slight reflections around the edges and suggests increasing the shaded area around the mount when necessary.

There is another important limitation at night: the camera does not use built-in infrared or white fill lights, because those lights would reflect from the glass. Its full-color night image therefore depends on outdoor ambient light from sources such as streetlights, porch lights, or landscape lighting. Quality may drop in genuinely dark locations. Until we test it, we will not claim perfect reflection control or useful night vision through every window.

OpenEdge, RTSP, and ONVIF: why they matter

The most promising part of CAM-S3W may be its local design rather than its resolution. OpenEdge is SONOFF’s local-first architecture. On this camera, it provides a browser-based web console for live viewing, configuration, and enabling RTSP and ONVIF without requiring a cloud account. The documentation also advertises a local JSON-RPC 2.0 API over HTTP and WebSocket.

RTSP exposes a video stream to compatible software, while ONVIF can help recorders and surveillance platforms discover and communicate with a camera. These capabilities are valuable, but they do not automatically constitute a native Home Assistant integration. ONVIF profiles, authentication, stream stability, and the functions actually exposed still need to be tested.

The camera accepts a TF or microSD card of up to 128 GB, sold separately, for local event recording without a monthly fee. SONOFF presents local access and subscription-free recording as product features; we have not yet verified retention, clip export, or failure behavior when the network or storage card becomes unavailable.

IFA availability and European prices

When we checked SONOFF’s European store on September 6, 2026, CAM-S3W was available for approximately €35.60, TRV-ZBT for approximately €35.60, and TP-WGZBA was a €36.63 pre-order, temporarily reduced from €40.70. Exact totals may vary with country, tax, and currency.

What still needs to be tested

  • Electrical compatibility and TP-WGZBA behavior in specific European heating installations.
  • TRV-ZBT noise, accuracy, battery life, and real-world regulation improvements.
  • CAM-S3W reflections, nighttime detail, and human detection through different windows.
  • RTSP stability, ONVIF profiles, the OpenEdge console, and microSD recording.
  • Sustained availability after IFA and its promotional period end.

SONOFF documents open-platform support for both Zigbee heating products, but maturity differs between platforms. The TP-WGZBA page requires Zigbee2MQTT 2.14.0 or later, while TRV-ZBT requires Zigbee2MQTT 2.12.1 or later. In both cases, SONOFF says pull requests for complete native ZHA support had not yet been merged when the listings were published. That status can change and should be checked before describing a particular integration as fully supported.

Tecnoyfoto’s conclusion

TP-WGZBA and TRV-ZBT form a coherent system for controlling central heating and individual radiators with unusually detailed schedules. The wall thermostat looks most relevant where a boiler dry contact or hydronic actuator control is required, while the new TRV may appeal to users who found the first generation too bulky.

CAM-S3W is easily the most intriguing of the three. Keeping a camera indoors while looking outside could solve genuine installation and tampering problems, while OpenEdge, RTSP, ONVIF, and microSD storage give it an unusually local focus at this price. It is also the product that most needs a demanding test: its value depends on reflections, low light, and detection through real windows. For now, we consider it an interesting idea rather than a buying recommendation.
